The thing about this blog

is that I can look back and see my blogs from the days when I was wildly enthusiastic about training for memory competitions. Well, semi-wildly enthusiastic, at least, my wildly obsessive days were back before I even started blogging, all those years ago. But still, it would be nice to get into that kind of mindset again. Any suggestions? Because I'm all out of ideas...

It's really gone beyond a joke

The whole concept of time, I mean. It's my birthday in four weeks, and I'll be thirty-nine. That's ollllld. With five Ls. There's no pretending it's "early-thirties", and to be honest I still haven't come to terms with being thirty-anything yet. I'm definitely not prepared for 39. And don't even think about mentioning what happens the year after that. I'm warning you.

Exposed: The Shocking Truth

The Blogger stats page that you get if you've got a blog is a fun thing to look at, as I've mentioned one or two times before. It tells you which old posts are attracting attention from readers, and apparently someone's been browsing the blog entries where I've talked about forgetting something in the course of my day-to-day life. I wonder if someone's compiling evidence for some sort of newspaper article or PhD thesis about the memory champion who can't even remember their own phone number or that they've ordered a book on the internet? I hope they are! I'd love that kind of publicity - it really gets tiresome having to explain to media people that I can't just remember anything they choose to show me, like massive great books and things, in a quick glance. If it became common knowledge that I've got a generally pretty hopeless memory except for things that I've made an effort to learn systems to be able to remember, things would be so much easier...
